As the title says... although I actually played 18 days now... So I'll start with the beginning : )
about ~25 days before today:
I went with a friend of mine to the.... ehmm... a retail store. We didn't took the next retail because we were sure they don't have Warhammer Online there so we drove another 30 min more after school just to reach the street where the store is in, we walked the way and were both excited about the game and it's special pvp. As you all should know warhammer is really pvp oriented. It has the like-bg scenario's, open rvr and city sieges. So we came in the store and they didn't had it : OOOO Went to the next and the next and the last one had it : )
~20 days before today:
last day in school. We each decided on a class to play with
18 days before today:
We started the game... My friend as a choppa and me as a blackorc. We took the orc start because Chaos was too full.. and well it was good...
the next 18 days before today:
Well another friend ( the firiend of my friend which I also know : ) ) Started the game also, it makes more fun the more friends you have to play with : )
Warhammer Online - a little review
Good game.... well too little review? : O Damn...
Ok to start with:
pve-content:
Areas are splitted into Tiers 1-4
T1: lvl 1 - 18
T2: lvl 11(I think) - 22
T3: lvl 22+
T4: no idea at least it reaches unto max: 40
So I just came up to T3. PvE content is not the worst and not the best in Warhammer. There are really enough quests to do and leveling goes (for a max lvl of 40) really slow in PvE. I had the feeling that it goes much faster in pvp. Really good point is that you have the quest areas marked on your map in red, it helps alot to manage the order in which you do the quests because you can easily spot areas where many quests go with each other, this makes questing much easier. I was a little disappointed from the new Rookie-Guild it was really bad, no good idea, you could leave the players alone because the guild never helps... Also I was disappointed from the amount of dungeons in the Game. I mean what I expected was.... more than one dungeon each tier... :( But although there are not many dungeons in the content... they are even bad designed. I mean it's a basic dungeon: 1 room, champions enemies: Tank in healer heals dd makes damage, gate opens, boss, tank, heal, damage(,wipe),loot. Nothing else not even big instances, each boss got 1 room full of enemies to clear before the gate. I guess if I was alone I wouldn't have done the dungeons but with a healer (friend of friend) a tank (me) and a dd (friend) you don't need much more so group gets much faster full than normally. Although the Dungeons are so badly designed we had fun doing them, more than 10 times...
What I heard but can't say with my own experience:
Endgame pve in war consists of 3 instances...
sound bad but I can't say because max lvl I reached is 22 x)
What is really good in warhammer, and at least unique, that there are 'public quests' which means everyone in the range of the 'pq' can participate, independet of other groups/players in that area, but all are working on the same goal so for example 0/100 dwarfs killed. And there are 10 guys killing each 1 dwarf the counter for everyone will be 10/100. Really good idea although you can't do them without a group/warband.
pvp:
As I said the world is split into T1-4 and while the pve content is not so unique and has been seen on many more MMO's the pvp content CAN be great.
Scenarios open sometimes really fast and you leave enter the waiting for the next and instantly can join one... or they open never...
So Scenarios are... different. Sometimes a CTF, sometimes a Conquer map, in T2 and T3 even a Team Deathmatch map : ). CTF/Conquer maps...
Well they are good as long as you have enough healers behind you... if not... they are not funny...
Open rvr: You can't do orvr without a warband. Which isn't difficult to get. But orvr gets interesting with T2 and higher because T2 is where keeps first appear. And apart from taking/defending keeps orvr consists out of running to the next battlefield object (bo), slaughtering some NPC's and waiting 3 minutes...
Conclusion:
Warhammer Online is a good game as long as you have some friends to play with. If you don't mind to often see minor bugs, and have at least 2 friends to play with you, this game could be something for you. If you hate seeing ANY bug in a game... this game is not for you...
