I kept an eye on EVE for a loooooooonngg time but well I never found a reason starting to play it and I was to lazy to get a trial... now I saw all these great screenshots and today I watched some trailers on steam... this game seems pretty cool... but well I'm worried about the hardware requirements:
Empfohlen:

software:: Microsoft Windows® XP/ Vista (me has XP)
processor: Intel Pentium® IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+ MHz ( I got Dual 1,8ghz)
memoryr: 1024 MB (have 2GB DDR2)
graphic card: 128 MB GeForce 6200 or better, ATi 9000 Serie or better (I got NVidia 6700 GS)
drivers: DirectX® 9.0c and the latest graphic card drivers (of course... or well not... have not updated it since I have the comp which is about... 3 years ago)
hardspace: 6.0 GB ... (Has ~50GB free)
and my internet is fast...
okay seems to fit... but my experiences told me: when 5000 players are playing in the same damn world... well the comp goes to hell (it starts burnin')
And how good is the game really? How big is the universe, how large the community, how 'hardcore' the gameplay, how good the graphics, how much does it costs / month?
Maybe I should get the 21days trial from steam...
well what are your thoughts about mines? :o

It's a very deep game with a very large community and with lots of options. There is only one server/shard for the game which is very appealing to alot people. People either hate it or love it simple as that. To get the most out of it you generally need to join a Corp (Guild) to fully experience all EVE has to offer. There aren't levels, but skills you train over time and you need certain skills to fly certain ships or use certain guns. The game has a rather steep level curve. Reference this comic strip. http://i38.tinypic.com/9pnaev.jpg

You can turn down or off alot of the graphical bells and whistles.
yeah sure that I can turn off the most but well, ti just doesn't look that good after turning down half of the options as before and If I start a game that's well known for these really amazing screenshots and light graphics I want to have thos don't I? And well I know heard much more things about EVE being really hard to learn/play... still gonna get the Trial... maybe in vacations or before or after.. but sometimes I gonna take the 21 free days trial and if I buy then I can still continue on that acc don't I? :P
Yeah I had a couple trial accounts I turned into full accounts. There is a retail box out there with some special stuff in it.

The biggest thing is to start with the correct stats/skills or you will gimp your ability to progress in the game.
so well best way would be to make a few trials to get the point behind the system and know how to start 'right' so that it doesn't end up in crap.. ?!?
goddamnit that there are different guides called 'how to beat the learing curve' with chapters in that are called 'finish the tutorial!' just prooves it's really (!!!) complicated ^^ gonna read those or mostly read them... well thanks for the links ^^
A lot of people find EVE to be an interesting game but never make the transition from being interested to actually playing. (that's the kind I am ^^)
I've been playing it off and on since late 2005. I put in 4-5 months in a year. I've never done any serious PVP or Corp stuff though.
EVE is harsh and complex. It doesn't protect you from yourself or other players, and people can (in game) scam you etc quite legitimately. Your defence against these things is to keep your eyes open and sometimes, to simply learn the hard way.

It has a massively complex economy almost entirely driven by player built gear, sold to other players. Market trading, speculate etc are all valid careers in EVE, as it being a full time manufacturer

The PVP gets harsh at the higher end. Insurance covers the cost of your basic tech 1 ships almost entirely when they're lost, letting you buy new ones, but there is no insurance for the better performing tech 2 gear, so if gets blown up, it's gone and you feel the loss.

Whilst it's possible to mostly avoid PVP, it's never possible to entirely avoid it, as you can still be attacked, even in high security space. This guarantees the loss of the attackers ship when the "police" show up, but they can often take you out before the police arrive. Mostly happens to people hauling expensive gear around, but it's always possible to happen to anyone anywhere.

As rgoff31 said, you'll either love it or hate it. If the above makes you shake your head and wonder why people put themselves through all of that, then you may be in the latter camp. If the challenge of something like the above pushes your buttons, then you'll love it :)
@cyron sounds hardcore... I only shook my head as I heard about the ships tech 2 being lost when destroyed o,O damn :O Anyway... again I have found a way around this game somehow... its just like normally you have to try it if you're a person like me trying everything ^^ but well I get Warhammer tomorrow and the next week is vacations and a friend of mine buys war tomorrow too and he gets his comp to mine 'cause my parents aren't there for the first week of vacation and well guess the rest x) Going to take the 14 day free trial or the 21 from steam sometimes.. but the entirely player driven economy sounds funny : D
The coolest thing about this game is it is totally a sandbox and you can go into it and play it however you want to. Of course other people in the game make it their business to interfere with you plans. I just remembered I have a copy of some of the basic rules of EVE.

Rules of EVE

1. Trust no one

2. Read the pop up messages before clicking OK

3. Fly only what you can afford to loose!!!!! (you will loose ships)

4. Insurance, buy it!! (See Rule 3)

5. Get a clone and keep it upgraded. (They are cheap get a high grade one)

6. EvE is about Risk Vs. Reward. Think about that with every action. (See Rule 3)

7. Avoid Lowsec Space (0.1 - 0.4). Stay in 0.5-1.0 or move to 0.0 (See Rule 7)

8. Being in Empire Space (0.5-1.0) Does not mean you are safe.

9. If you lose stuff, it's ALMOST ALWAYS YOUR FAULT. Really, only yours.

10. Just because you CAN fly something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

11. Trust no one!!!!! (EVE is full of twisted people who all want to kill or do really bad things to you.)
@rgoff31: :OOOOO Rule 1 and 11 ar teh saem! :OOOO
Lol sound really hardcore I'm happy I started playing WAR and not EVE... in WAR everything sounds easier: Order = Enemy Death = not loosing 0 Points = Lost! ^^
Guess I'm not starting it in early future but I've saw payByCash Cards for EVE today which gives the game a great + on my 'list of games I WAAAANNTT!!!' ; ) ^^
